Sonic the Comic #101

15 April 1997

Issue overview

With Robotnik's rule broken, Mobius faces a new question: who should lead it? Vote for Me opens the post-dictatorship run with an election, while the other strips show how different characters respond to the change.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · Vote for Me #

With Robotnik gone, Mobius holds elections for a new world leader. Sonic finds candidates Derek Wombat and Giles Baboon trading absurd promises on It's Your Shout, then later wrecking city streets in battle armour. He disables both suits and leaves them tied so they must co-operate to get free. On polling day neither wins a single vote, and Sonic urges each Zone to choose its own leader rather than crown one ruler for the planet.

    Reprinted in issue 218.

  2. Knuckles · Loose Ends #

On the Floating Island, Knuckles finds Doctor Zachary has tunnelled deeper into the rock instead of staying trapped. The Emerald Hill Folk, led by Sidney, demand a return home; a clash with reactivated Guardian Robots ends once Knuckles explains the machines no longer serve Zachary. He agrees to lower the Island so they can leave, then shows Porker Lewis the chest of ancient plans that will let them repair the Emerald Chamber.

    Reprinted in issue 218.

  3. Decap Attack · Walls #

Igor resolves to rescue the Professor from Hell — then the Prof returns already engaged to the Thin Controller, keen to redecorate Castle Frank N. Stein. Demon interior designers knock the ground-floor walls away before a choirboy portrait of the Professor's past ends the wedding on the spot. With only one pillar left, Chuck leans on it and the castle collapses on top of them.

Script: Nigel Kitching, Richard Rayner · Art: Mick McMahon · Letters: Ellie de Ville

  4. Sonic's World · Invasion of the Veg Heads, Part 1 #

In the Plowright Zone, Farmer Nige's prize vegetables grow enormous near the shuttered Chemical Plant Zone. Agent Harry Mole of O.O.E.R. investigates vanishing crops and finds the produce has come alive. Sonic knocks the mutants aside, only for roots to seize him, Nige and Harry. Crowned potato King Edward declares them prisoners of the Veg-Heads.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Andy Pritchett · Letters: Ellie de Ville

    Reprinted in issue 218.
