Sonic the Comic #145

16–29 December 1998

Issue overview

Emerald Hill children build a remote-controlled Badnik to meet Sonic and see his speed. Sonic recognises their game and chooses to play along, giving Child's Play a lighter lead story.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · Child's Play #

Children in the Emerald Hill Zone build a remote-controlled Badnik to lure Sonic into showing off his speed. Sonic pretends to be beaten before exposing the trick, then turns the snow into a playground for them during the first Christmas in years without Robotnik's interference.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Richard Elson · Letters: Ellie de Ville

  2. Amy · Dream On #

Amy and Tekno enter the nightmare of an unemployed alien who fears he cannot give his family Christmas presents. Amy helps him see that his family needs his happiness more than expensive gifts; after he wakes to a new job offer, the Ring of Eternity returns the travellers to Mobius for Christmas.

Script: Lew Stringer · B&W art: Carl Flint · Letters: Tom Frame

  3. Tails · Captain Christmas #

A cold leaves Tails too slow to stop Baa Humbug's crimes, while the apparently heroic Captain Christmas wins the citizens' presents with festive weapons and a charm-enhancing body spray. Tails's antidote reveals that the hero is Dog Malone, who is made to spend Christmas helping Father Christmas deliver the gifts.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Roberto Corona · Letters: Elitta Fell

Reprinted stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · Sonic the Human #

Sonic seems to wake as a human child called Erin, trapped in a strange family routine. He eventually recognises the experience as one of Robotnik's illusions and breaks out of it.

    First appeared in issue 17.
