Sonic the Comic #38

11 November 1994

Issue overview

Sonic, Porker and Johnny are cornered inside their former hideout as Robotnik returns with a heavily armoured vehicle. The second part of Robotnik's Revenge makes survival, rather than a clean victory, the Freedom Fighters' immediate goal.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · Robotnik's Revenge, Part 2 #

Cornered in the ruined base, Sonic steels himself for a last stand against the Squeeze Tag Machine—until Knuckles tunnels through the ceiling and admits he ordered Grimer's false death report. One punch cracks the cockpit glass; Sonic rips the roof off, Knuckles leads them topside, and the pair out-swagger each other while Robotnik slips away. Debt paid, Knuckles flies home in a Flying Egg to purge the Island; Sonic, Porker and Johnny rejoin Tails and Amy as Bob Beaky's Travelling Circus, moustaches and all.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Richard Elson · Letters: Ellie de Ville

    Reprinted in issue 151.

  2. Eternal Champions · Larson's Revenge, Part 2 #

Larcen learns the White Orchid is Shadow Yamoto, posted from 1994 Tokyo to raise a syndicate against greater evil—and barred from recruiting him. He tags along to Simpson Quarry anyway, where her contact proves to be Tagliani, the gangster who once killed him. Police spring an ambush; Larcen fights free, but Shadow surrenders without a struggle and lets them haul her away.

Script: Michael Cook · Art: Jon Haward · Letters: Tom Frame

  3. Tails · Zonerunner & The Flock, Part 4 #

While Sab's flock scrap with Tess Tube, Sol Furic and the security droids, Tails faces Nutzan Bolt alone and ducks into a building with twin-propeller pursuit hot behind. Panicked microputer shouts—polite British pleading included—make the door slam, reopen, then crush and finally decapitate Nutzan, whose head sprout-wheels and drives off. Bolt's own blasts have sealed the dam with melted construction bots; the flood is stopped, even if Tails never quite persuades anyone he meant the door trick.

Script: Mark Eyles · Art: Roberto Corona · Letters: Elitta Fell

    Reprinted in issue 162.

  4. Decap Attack · Who Killed Chuck? Part 5 #

Fleeing Case, Chuck and Head meet a sewer slime beast that swallows them whole and spatters Head back out as too crunchy. The creature later heaves Chuck up again; bolting clear, he runs straight into the detective—and knocks Case cold before the cuffs can close.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Nigel Kitching · Letters: Steve Potter
