Sonic the Comic #39

Issue overview

Robotnik steals Sonic's speed and blue appearance, leaving the hedgehog in his earlier brown form. Sonic No More reverses their familiar strengths and lets Robotnik present his altered rival to Mobius as a defeated hero.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · Sonic No More #

Robotnik and Grimer blast Sonic with a Neinstein energy ray, draining him back to brown and turning the doctor into a blue, streamlined speedster. Freed only so Mobius can mock its fallen hero, Sonic later confronts them alone—until loyal Batbrains attack the blue blur they were ordered to stop. Grimer reverses the transfer to save his boss, restoring Sonic as well; the hedgehog smashes the transmitter and boots Robotnik on his way.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Ferran Rodriguez · Letters: Ellie de Ville

    Reprinted in issue 154.

  2. Eternal Champions · Larson's Revenge, Part 3 #

Larcen breaks Shadow out of jail, only to learn she meant to stay: her confession was meant to implicate Chicago's crime families, and the escape makes it worthless. Back at his flat they find Tagliani waiting with goons and a demand for the missing documents. Outnumbered, Larcen and Shadow are taken.

Script: Michael Cook · Art: Jon Haward · Letters: Tom Frame

  3. Knuckles · Carnival Night Conspiracy, Part 1 #

Knuckles rides a stolen Flying Egg home until Robotnik triggers its self-destruct on a video link; he glides clear onto the Floating Island and finds a vast new Carnival Night City squatting on historic ground. Troopers guard the gates, so he tunnels in, flattens a construction robot sent by three watchers, then scales the roof and kicks their gun aside. The shooters introduce themselves as the Marxio Brothers; Grouchio promises an offer he can't refuse.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Richard Elson · Letters: Elitta Fell

    Reprinted in issue 172.

  4. Decap Attack · Who Killed Chuck? Part 6 #

To wipe Detective Case's memory of Chuck's "murder", the Professor removes the policeman's brain and puts it through mallet, teeth, acid, whisk, electrodes and a laundry mangle. Case wanders off scarred but clueless—until Igor finds the real organ on his breakfast plate and realises their patient left carrying citrus upstairs. The brain, still chatty, insists they all report to the station once it works out how to walk.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Nigel Kitching · Letters: Steve Potter
