Sonic the Comic #103

Issue overview

A new bridge in Jade Hill Zone collapses at its opening ceremony. Sonic's encounter with the handyman responsible gives DIY Danger a smaller local crisis, while Captain Plunder and Tails begin separate adventures elsewhere in the issue.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · DIY Danger #

At a Jade Hill Zone bridge opening, handyman Roger Bodge's shoddy span collapses and Sonic hauls him ashore. Tea at the Bodge house introduces a scrap Trooper rebuilt as a butler that attacks Sonic on sight. A collapsing shelf interrupts the fight; the robot then offers tea and self-destructs, levelling the house. Sonic advises Bodge not to do it himself next time.

Script: Lew Stringer · B&W art: Roberto Corona · Colour: Nigel Dobbyn · Letters: Tom Frame

    Reprinted in issue 184.

  2. Captain Plunder · The Spice Maidens, Part 1 #

In Scourge Bay, Captain Plunder tries to recruit with a forged treasure map whose ink is still wet. Simpson clobbers him instead of the recruit. Queen Zorabel interrupts to push her daughters onto his crew, and they find the Spice Maidens mid-brawl in The Pink Parrot.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Nigel Dobbyn · Letters: Elitta Fell

    Reprinted in issue 204.

  3. Sonic's World · Crawling from the Wreckage #

Amy, Johnny and Tekno salvage gear from Citadel Robotnik's ruins and detect life below. In the basement they interrupt a D.R.A.T. induction — Doctor Robotnik's Appreciation Tribe — armed with scavenged Trooper lasers. New recruit Brother Norman pursues them in a spring-fisted Flying Egg that punches him in the face on rebound. Norman is caught; the rest of D.R.A.T. escape.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Richard Elson · Letters: Tom Frame

    Reprinted in issue 220.

  4. Tails · Flip Side, Part 1 #

Overlooked and misnamed by fans, Tails seeks Doctor Sorders' confidence hypnosis and emerges as an over-cool fox. In the Greenfield Zone, Alf Bandstand's around-the-Zones balloon is punctured by its woodpecker co-pilot. Cool Tails refuses to fly lest he ruffle his fur, leaving Sonic desperate to snap him back before the balloonists die.

Script: Lew Stringer · B&W art: Carl Flint · Colour: John M. Burns · Letters: Ellie de Ville

    Reprinted in issue 188.
