Sonic the Comic #116

29 October–11 November 1997

Issue overview

On the Drakon homeworld, the empire's leaders learn of Sonic through a prophecy. Best of Enemies begins a new plot against him while Hunter & The Hunted follows Super Sonic elsewhere in the issue.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · Best of Enemies, Part 1 #

On Drak, Sister Haggra's Vapours of Destiny show a blue hedgehog who knows the Chaos Emeralds' secret; Emperor Ko-Dorr pretends not to recognise Sonic. On Mobius, Robotnik's Camera Badnik raid is only a reminder he is still around while he builds stronger Knuckles Metallixes with Ko-Dorr's help — until the Emperor steps through a Mobius Ring demanding the Emeralds now. Watching Flickies homeward, Sonic feels a sudden chill, then shrugs that with Robotnik gone things can only get better.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Richard Elson · Letters: Tom Frame

  2. Super Sonic · Hunter & The Hunted, Part 1 #

At The Groovy Train in the Metropolis Zone, psychic Pyjamas foresees world-ending power just as amnesiac Super Sonic walks in asking Ebony for a job. From the Special Zone, Lord Sidewinder sends Bio-Hazard through a dimensional teleporter to seize the weakened hedgehog. Bio-Hazard tears the coffee bar apart yelling that he has come for Super Sonic.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Nigel Dobbyn · Letters: Tom Frame

    Reprinted in issue 220.

  3. Decap Attack · Return of the Pumpkins #

On Halloween, a sarcastic horde of South Patagonian Red pumpkins returns to Castle Frank N. Stein; Kevin of Transylvanian Pest Control swings in with a plan — fruit is the natural enemy of vegetables. He paints Head as an apple to lure them to the battlements, where Prof, Chuck and Igor wait as a giant fruit salad. Rather than fight, the pumpkins bounce over the edge and back toward prison.

Script: Nigel Kitching, Richard Rayner · Art: Nigel Kitching · Letters: Elitta Fell

  4. Sonic's World: Amy & Tekno · Spooked #

Amy and Tekno investigate Old Hill Zone's empty house after locals hear terrible wailing and nick it the Haunted House Zone. Inside, falling gargoyles and masonry lead them to the source: Fabian Vane rehearsing a comeback. His singing weakens the foundations until the building collapses on his demo tapes; Amy notes he can at least say he brought down the house.

Script: Lew Stringer · B&W art: Andy Pritchett · Colour: John M. Burns · Letters: Ellie de Ville

    Reprinted in issue 214.
