Sonic the Comic #46

3 March 1995

Issue overview

The Big Con takes Sonic inside Robotnikcon, a compulsory convention celebrating the dictator in the Chemical Plant Zone. Its forced cheerfulness gives the comic a satirical setting for Robotnik's control over ordinary Mobians.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · The Big Con #

Mobians are herded into Robotnikcon One in Chemical Plant Zone, where Troopers push 'loyal' fans toward a hall that secretly converts them into Badnik batteries. Sonic poses as a penguin in the queue, wrecks the guards, and topples a giant Robotnik statue onto the creation plant while Porker keeps civilians clear. Robotnik arrives expecting an army and finds only rubble and a welcome board rewritten as Sonic-con 1.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Roberto Corona · Letters: Steve Potter

    Reprinted in issue 175.

  2. Streets of Rage · The Only Game in Town, Part 6 #

The Battle Wagon leaps the East River gap, impales itself on a far-side girder, and the four climb free moments before van and girder plunge into the water. Bandaged Axel and the others thank Feroccio, who still refuses to join them. At headquarters a replacement Mr X pays Blaze her two-million-dollar winnings and vows to claw the money back.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Peter Richardson · Letters: Tom Frame

  3. Sonic's World · Enter the Cybernik, Part 2 #

Robotnik seals Shorty inside indestructible Cybernik armour and runs the brainwashing program until the squirrel's resistance seems spent. A laser demonstration shreds a Trooper; then the Cybernik is ordered to lead Badniks against Emerald Hill with no prisoners. He arrives, turns on his escorts instead, and admits stubborn will plus earlier sabotage kept his own mind — leaving Robotnik determined to erase his own creation.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Roberto Corona, John M. Burns · Letters: Steve Potter

    Reprinted in issue 201.

  4. Marko's Magic Football · Marko's Magic Football, Part 6 #

Marko's kicks glance off Colonel Brown's protected suit while Welders' flamethrowers ignite a sludge barrel. A full-force strike finally bowls Brown into the green slime, wrecking the suit and triggering a chain reaction that levels Toy Tower as Marko escapes. Captain Smirk claims Earth's future is safe — if a little historically fuzzy — and Marko gets an earful from Mum on the walk home.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Gary Andrews · Letters: Steve Potter
