Sonic the Comic #45

17 February 1995

Issue overview

Robotnik launches the repaired Death Egg II from the Floating Island. What first looks like an eclipse over Emerald Hill becomes the return of his space station and the start of a larger battle for Mobius.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · Day of The Death Egg #

At Launch Base the repaired Death Egg II lifts off; over Emerald Hill an eclipse resolves into the station itself as twin Death Rays carve through homes and land. Robotnik taunts Sonic into arriving, obliterates Tails mid-flight, then widens the beams and wipes Sonic and the whole Zone in one blast. Lights return: the catastrophe was only Grimer's simulation. The real craft is still unfinished, yet its launch is weeks away.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Richard Elson · Letters: Ellie de Ville

    Reprinted in issue 174.

  2. Streets of Rage · The Only Game in Town, Part 5 #

Axel tumbles from the East River bridge onto a girder below; only Blaze sees him survive and pretends he is gone. Mr X arrives to protect his betting book, and Blaze stakes twenty thousand dollars at a hundred to one that they will cross. Axel storms back in the Battle Wagon, scoops up the team, and their jump for the unfinished bridge falls short.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Peter Richardson · Letters: Tom Frame

  3. Sonic's World · Enter the Cybernik, Part 1 #

Short-tempered Shorty the Squirrel nearly clocks a bird for praising Robotnik before Hopper drags him off. A Troop Ship scoops Emerald Hill folk for Badnik processing; Shorty stows away, sabotages the plant computer, and is seized anyway. Robotnik declares him the first Cybernik — a Super-Badnik whose armour and circuitry will never let him free.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Roberto Corona, John M. Burns · Letters: Steve Potter

    Reprinted in issue 200.

  4. Marko's Magic Football · Marko's Magic Football, Part 5 #

Without his football, Marko flees killer toys until their own gunfire shatters the female decoy and the ball snaps back to his foot. He turns on the toys, then sets out to wreck Colonel Brown's green brainwashing sludge. Welders harass him en route until he meets Brown himself, now sealed inside a fresh power suit.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Gary Andrews · Letters: Steve Potter
