Sonic the Comic #84

16 August 1996

Issue overview

Sonic travels to the Special Zone to pursue the separated Super Sonic. Heroes & Villains brings him into the Chaotix Crew's world and a local conflict between rival groups, widening the comic's setting beyond Mobius.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · Heroes & Villains, Part 1 #

Omni-Viewer drops Sonic into Chaotix HQ to warn that Super Sonic now roams the Special Zone; the crew shrug and ferry him to New Tek City on Planet Meridian instead. Justice Brigade and Discriminators brawl for no cause Sonic can name, and he cannot tell heroes from villains until a wolfman punches him. Police scatter both sides; Chaotix flee through Omni while Sonic is nicked and past caring.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Richard Elson · Letters: Ellie de Ville

    Reprinted in issue 205.

  2. Knuckles · Village of the Damned, Part 1 #

Hauling the document chest through night forest, Knuckles finds The Green Man tavern still lit - patrons glare, yet the chicken landlord presses the best room and finest beer. A grey goat murmurs that this is the one. Screams outside prove no owl: torch-bearing regulars parade a sheep girl bound to a standing stone.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Nigel Dobbyn · Letters: Elitta Fell

    Reprinted in issue 204.

  3. Tails · Sneaker Seeker #

A lab-coated bear gifts Tails flashy trainers for beating Robotnik; once the fox leaves, Grimer peels off the mask. A homing missile locks on the shoes no matter how Tails twists; he dumps them at Grimer's feet and forces a self-destruct. Old sneakers back on, he decides fashion to die for is not worth it.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Roberto Corona · Colour: John M. Burns · Letters: Tom Frame

    Reprinted in issue 183.

  4. Sonic's World · New Image #

Sneaky and Snooty halt Sonic's run, flash a photo of bound Amy, and bully him into a yellow anorak that advertises their makeover firm. The coat slows him against Badniks until Amy, already escaped, drops one with a bolt; Sonic shreds the anorak, ties the crooks in its strips and posts them to Robotnik. Perfection, he smirks, needs no new image.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Carl Flint · Colour: Steve White · Letters: Tom Frame
