Sonic the Comic #118

16 December 1997

Issue overview

A giant Drakon Sentinel threatens Emerald Village unless Sonic surrenders. Its size is less important than its target: Best of Enemies makes the village, rather than Sonic's ability to outrun an opponent, the pressure point.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · Best of Enemies, Part 3 #

The Master Sentinel marches on Emerald Village unless Sonic surrenders; he spins free of its fist and tries a Water Vortex, only to find the giant still upright with its chest plate gone. Tails hoists him into the gap so he can rip out the works and topple the machine on the shore. On Flickies' Island Grimer 'defects', tipping Ko-Dorr that the Emeralds' hiding place was never a secret to Robotnik, and Sentinel guards close round the furious doctor.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Richard Elson · Letters: Elitta Fell

  2. Super Sonic · Hunter & The Hunted, Part 3 #

Pyjamas's mind-link restores Super Sonic's demonic memories just as Bio-Hazard smashes through; Super refuses to tap Chaos energy again for fear of the urge to destroy. Before the teleporter fires, Lieutenant Furor recalls Bio-Hazard and bags Sidewinder's crew for a padded cell. Ebony hands Super the broom he originally came for — a job, not a planet-wrecking destiny.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Nigel Dobbyn · Letters: Ellie de Ville

    Reprinted in issue 222.

  3. Sonic's World · Tall Tails #

Shopping for a real Christmas tree, Tails meets a biochemist whose stump re-grow formula works a treat — until Badniks smash the tank and drench him. He balloons to house-size, swats the robots, nearly flattens a home when his spinning tails whip up a hurricane, then shelters townsfolk until rain washes the formula off. He settles for a small fake tree Sonic might grow to like.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Mick McMahon · Letters: Ellie de Ville

  4. Sonic's World: Amy & Tekno · Multi-Mania #

Robotnik sends Badniks after Tekno rather than Sonic; she ducks into her workshop for a Multi-Image Creator that fills the Zone with holographic Teknos until the robots shoot each other. He forces her to hand the gadget over by threatening Amy — then learns it only projects images of Tekno and smashes it in a fit. Amy notes you cannot be everywhere at once.

Script: Lew Stringer · B&W art: Roberto Corona · Colour: Richard Guildford · Letters: Elitta Fell

    Reprinted in issue 216.

  5. Double Sonic · Face to Face #

After Sonic baits two tough Badniks into colliding, a monitor pops from the wreckage and Robotnik offers a truce at Sky High Peak. On the summit the doctor asks for one Zone to rule; when Sonic refuses, the 'Robotnik' admits he is a hologram and fires a Plasma Ray Cannon that obliterates the peak. Dust clears on another hologram — the real Sonic is safe in Tekno's workshop.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Mick McMahon · Letters: Gordon Robson
