Sonic the Comic #119

17–30 December 1997

Issue overview

A cloaked intruder called Vile Peter appears in Emerald Hill on Christmas Eve and uses magic against a young resident. Black Christmas brings a darker seasonal threat to Sonic's home Zone.

Original stories

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog · Black Christmas #

On Christmas Eve, cloaked Vile Peter shrinks Emerald Hill children into jars until Sonic interrupts; magic powder only slows the hedgehog briefly before Peter vanishes. Father Christmas arrives with the villain already bagged and frees the youngsters — Sonic, sure it is Robotnik in disguise, yanks the beard and flings the real Santa into a snowdrift. Amused rather than angry, Father Christmas leaves early presents behind.

Script: Nigel Kitching · B&W art: Richard Elson · Colour: Richard Guildford · Letters: Tom Frame

  2. Tails · Going Crackers #

Tower Hill Zone-Leader Basil Poultry frets over the first Christmas since Robotnik fell until damp crackers tip him into a powered exo-suit rampage that cancels the festivities. Tails bowls him with a giant snowball that shatters the suit's dome, then argues there is more to the day than crackers and cards. Neighbours' forgiveness finally shows Poultry the one thing he could not crush: Christmas spirit.

Script: Lew Stringer · Art: Andy Pritchett · Letters: Elitta Fell

    Reprinted in issue 196.

  3. Decap Attack · Christmas Carol II #

Chuck, Igor and Head want Christmas Day off; Professor Frank N. Stein refuses, claiming last year was quite enough. That night the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet To Come haunt him into granting the holiday and a telly session. Outside, Igor pays Tall Tim the hypnotist a measly half-crown for the whole charade — Tim nearly broke a leg climbing into the bedroom.

Script: Nigel Kitching · Art: Nigel Kitching · Letters: Ellie de Ville

  4. Sonic's World: Amy & Tekno · Peace of the Action #

Shortfuse comes home through Tekno's temporary Inter-Planetary Warp-Gate with Kaamdaarn guest Amber just as new-model Badniks hit Emerald Hill. When they seize a villager, Amber's yellow glow turns the robots peaceful and they leave to spread cheer — including a Silent Night chorus that gives Robotnik a headache. Amber cannot rewrite a heart with no love in it, and her influence will fade when she goes.

Script: Lew Stringer · B&W art: Roberto Corona · Colour: Andy Pritchett · Letters: Tom Frame
